From 11 to 13 December, three days of concerts, screenings, DJ sets, listening sessions, workshops and talks at Triennale to establish a dialogue between archival heritage and today’s world of cinema and music

Among the first names announced are director Romain Gavras, journalist Stefano Nazzi, the composer of the music for the Oscar-winning film Sentimental Value Hania Rani and composer Christophe Chassol

Enter the creative sound laboratory, where music takes shape through research, study and experimentation, with the second edition of SLAM – Festival Internazionale delle Colonne Sonore presented by CAM Sugar and Triennale Milano from 11 to 13 December 2026, with a preview at Teatro alla Scala on 29 November. With a programme ranging from concerts, screenings, DJ sets, listening sessions, workshops and talks, the Festival opens the doors to the creative process and compositional practices that define the sound identity of the musical landscape of the past and present, from the soundtracks of Ennio Morricone and Piero Umiliani to the most current experiments of the international scene. The first protagonists of this edition include Jeff Mills, pioneer of techno and a central figure in global electronic music, director and author Romain Gavras, who with his music videos has redefined the language of contemporary music, journalist and writer Stefano Nazzi and Hania Rani, composer and pianist among the most original artists of the new European scene, as well as author of the soundtrack for the 2026 Academy Award-winning film Sentimental Value. Also featured are composer and director Christophe Chassol with his live project Funny How? presented for the first time in Italy, music supervisor Randall Poster, collaborator of directors such as Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese and Sofia Coppola, Pino Donaggio, author of historic soundtracks for thriller and horror films – his latest one, for Her private hell by Nicolas Winding Refn, presented at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival – and singer-songwriter Joan Thiele, who in a listening session, together with Andrea Fabrizii, will enter into dialogue with the music of Piero Umiliani to explore its musical and cultural legacy on the centenary of his birth. Further guests will be announced in the coming months.

The Festival is also preceded by a special preview in collaboration with the Filarmonica della Scala and Cineteca di Bologna/Mediaset – RTI. As part of the Filarmonica della Scala’s film concert series Fotogrammi della Filarmonica della Scala, on Sunday 29 November at Teatro alla Scala there will be a screening of Federico Fellini’s 8½ with music by Nino Rota performed live under the direction of Timothy Brock. The visual identity of the 2026 edition is born precisely from an original drawing by Federico Fellini, strengthening the Festival’s connection with one of the most important authors in the history of Italian cinema.

A vision that is also expressed through the desire to tell and “enter” the creative laboratory of composers. It is precisely from this perspective that, at the press conference, a selection of previously unpublished photographs of Ennio Morricone’s studio is presented.

Starting on 24 June at 12:00 PM, the reserved presale for Triennale members is open — at this link — for the following events: the Jeff Mills Tomorrow Comes the Harvest concert, the talk by Romain Gavras with a screening of Gillo Pontecorvo’s The Battle of Algiers, Stefano Nazzi’s live event followed by a screening of Carlo Lizzani’s San Babila ore 20: un delitto inutile, the masterclass with Hania Rani, Christophe Chassol’s Funny How? live performance, and the listening session with Randall Poster.

For the same events, general public sales will open on Thursday, June 25 at 12:00 PM.
